Activities of the Centre

The main activity of the Centre is to provide the public with general and specific information on the EU, provide brochures and EU publication, to act as a constant forum for events of EC Liaison Office to Kosovo and implementing partners of the EU funded projects and to cooperate with all interested parties in order to organize joint information activities.

Provision of Information:

The EU Information and Cultural Centre operating phone lines are one of the instruments to offer informationand increase public awareness of EU-related issues in Kosovo.

We respond to enquiries on EU issues instantly or within three days. Information requests can also be sent through e-mail at info@euicc-ks. com or helpdesk@euicc-ks.com.

We rely in compiling the answers on the following sources of information:

• the resources of  the Centre at its internal library
• The resources of EU bookshop and EUROPA websites
• the assistance of specialists among implementing partners, EC Liaison Office to Kosovo and partner/associate organizations supporting this information service
• the assistance of  local EU information consultants throughout Kosovo

Cultural Events - Facilitating the service as a public information centre, the EUICC serves as a host of EU-related events, such as EU-member National Holidays; an Europe Day; and the EU Council Presidency. The EU Member states present in Kosovo are hereby invited and greatly encouraged to contribute to the organization of their respective countries’ National Holidays. Through their participation, jointly with EUICC, it is foreseen to create an improved public understanding and gained interest about the respective EU countries history, culture, art and cuisine.

In close cooperation with University of Prishtina and Kosovo Art Gallery the centre on quarterly basis plans to host art exhibitions of Kosovo well known and young artists. Cultural photo exhibitions will be displayed and in cooperation with Documentary Film Festival “DOKUFEST” the documentary movies will be shown and debate organized with targeted audience.

A partnership has been initiated with Alliance Française Kosovo to bridge the synergy between their cultural activies and re-organize them at the centre such as: show movies from the French Movie week, organize workshop for students on remaking short movies, host photo exhibition from the competition of the Kosovo artists and share with the centre French audio visual  and other materials.  

The annual Europe Day (May 9^th) is the flagship celebration of the European Union. Marking Europe Day is the core activity to gain the interest of the people of Kosovo in EU integration matters. Since the EU Day is a “celebration” of all Kosovo citizens, the Centre organizes events of a “lighter” - more friendly - nature highlighting the cultural and historical richness of the EU.

Information and Educational Activities:

One of the key objectives in implementing communication actions is to focus communication efforts on the young people of Kosovo. In order to motivate the youth to think and debate about EU integration issues on a regular basis the centre organizes a number of lectures, public debates and round table discussions in partnership with relevant Kosovo schools and universities.

The activities organized consist of:

• Regular student visits and competitive model EU
• Thematic events organized jointly with EC Liaison Office to Kosovo
• Lectures, public debates and round table discussions highlighting EU integration themes to raise the level of debate among the Kosovo population. These events are rganized for the general public or for mixed groups and target audiences (university students, civil servants, business community, worker unions, media, NGOs)
• Events in conjunction with visits of high-level EU officials in Kosovo provide an effective tool to raise the visibility of EU related issues in Kosovo
• Events organized in conjunction with visits to EU funded projects across Kosovo provide a good means for reaching local populations and providing information on the EU’s aid programs for Kosovo
